Construction of three new buildings on the athletics department's existing footprint. The cornerstone of the project is the new Land O'Lakes Center for Excellence, which will house a new academic center, Gopher Athletics' first nutrition center, as well as a leadership center focused on developing life skills, leadership and preparing student-athletes for successful professional careers outside of sports. This facility will serve all current and future Gopher student-athletes.

In addition, the Athletes Village will include a new basketball development center (the first in the department's history), which will have dedicated practice and administrative spaces for both the men's and women's basketball program, as well as a new indoor practice facility for football and a football performance center with strength and conditioning space, athletic training, offices, team rooms and more.

These new structures will allow the department to re-purpose and renovate existing spaces in the Bierman and Gibson-Nagurski buildings to better support all Gopher student-athletes and staff.

    Recent Updates:
Crews are currently laying the groundwork, literally, for the remainder of construction. Work to this point has focused on prepping the earth within the site for the construction, tasks that have ranged from soil testing to removal of curbs, storm water infrastructure and more. In addition to earth prep, crews have begun work on temporary utilities that will feed power, water, gas, etc. to the Athletes Village while work on permanent utilities is done later in construction. Looking ahead to the coming weeks, as many as 100 trucks will come and go from the site every day, finishing this early work and eventually entering foundation and footing work for the new buildings later this summer.
