Minneapolis is experiencing an extraordinary time in its history. For four consecutive years, more than $1 billion worth of construction permits were issued in the city, and projects that will help Minneapolis continue to be an elite 21st Century City are continuing all around us. All of these works in progress are coming together in a way that makes our city competitive nationally and internationally, and they will keep Minneapolis an elite city to live, work, play, visit and explore.
The Minneapolis Big Build is a collection of major projects that are transforming Minneapolis, adding new facilities, new greenspace, and new public amenities that will continue enhancing the vibrancy of our city. With the redesign of our signature street, Nicollet, the opening of the new U.S. Bank Stadium and Commons Park, and a major renovation to Target Center, the heart of downtown will be bolder, greener and more inviting than ever. Renovations at the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden and Walker Art Center and the new Water Works Park on the riverfront will take already world-class amenities and make them even better. Add to that major residential, office and restaurant development, a new Athletes Village at the University of Minnesota, and the complete rebuilding of several key streets, and Minneapolis is truly a city that’s transforming in a big way.
This is an extraordinary time to be part of Minneapolis, and the Minneapolis Big Build aims to help you keep up to date with the major projects happening around you. This website highlights these major projects and timelines so you can see how our city will look once these projects are complete in the years to come.
